Helping yourself
There are some things you can do to to help yourself through the period of mourning after your sad loss.

You can help yourself by:

  • accepting that it is normal not to feel 'normal'
  • letting yourself experience the feelings you have about what has happened and talking to others about it. Many people feel the need to talk about what has happened and how they feel about it, over and over again
  • finding out more about what happened if all the facts are not clear about how your loved one died
  • returning to a daily routine, as long as you try to balance this with time to reflect on what has happened to you
  • trying to have a lifestyle that keeps you in good physical shape. Trying sticking to a regular routine of eating, sleeping, exercise and relaxation. Look after yourself
